Many times we feel as if the issues we struggle with are ones that we should be able to figure out on our own. Other times we fall victim to the stigma that still lingers around the topic of asking for help. These fallacies tend to lead to feelings of hopelessness or a lack of self-efficacy. I want you to know that you CAN resolve those issues once you learn the skills needed to do so. You do not have to hide behind a false smile, you do not have to pretend to be someone you're not, and you do not have to be ashamed because asking for help is an act of bravery as well as self-preservation. If you are struggling, KNOW that there ARE solutions. You just haven't had anyone to teach you about them yet ... and that's where I come in.

My metaphor for relationships is that they need to be tended to as a garden. Each individual has their own row to hoe, weed and water. When one person stops tending to the garden, their weeds begin to invade the other persons rows, growth begins to wither on the unattended side and the other person almost always tries to pitch in to rescue the garden on their own. This does not work and often breeds resentments. Relationships need both individuals putting in equal amounts of energy to grow a healthy connection that feed's and nurture's the soul, the heart, the body and the mind. Communication skills are key as well as compatibility. I can help you learn how to communicate what you need in skillful ways.

The worst kind of mood and personality disorders are the kind that you are not able to explain. I am well versed in a wide variety of diagnoses and evidence based treatment. As follows, you can see the types of disorders I have successfully worked with and either reduced or eliminated the symptoms to the extent that my clients have become able to manage them without me.
ADHD, Addiction, Adoption, Alcohol/Substance Abuse, Anger Management, Anxiety, Autism, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Career Counseling, Adolescent/Teen Behavior, Chronic Illness, Chronic Impulsivity, Codependency, Coping Skills, Depression, Divorce/Mediation, Dissociative Disorders, Domestic Abuse, Domestic Violence, Dual Diagnosis, Elderly Persons Disorders, Emotional Disturbance, Family Conflict, Grief, Life Stage Transitions, Marital and Premarital, Medication Management, Mood Disorders, Naturopathy, Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD), Parenting, Peer Relationships, Personality Disorders, Psychosis, Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Self-Harming, Schizophrenia, Sexual Abuse, Sleep or Insomnia, Spirituality, Stress, Suicidal Ideation, and Traumatic Brain Injury.

Trauma comes in so many different sizes and shapes it seems hard to nail it down as to what it actually is. What feels traumatic to one person may seem to be something another person could easily shake off and walk away from. One thing is for certain, if you feel you've been traumatized, you probably have been and the healing process is not one that you have to go through alone. Often times people feel that there is no one out there that could possibly understand what they've been through as their story is so horrific that it couldn't even be made up by the most experienced writers. I personally know of some cases where this is absolutely true. The one most important thing I want you to know is that whether your trauma is fresh, has been lying dormant and is now rearing its ugly head, or if it has returned in a brand new form, you are not alone. I am here to help you get to the other side of it. I am your guide, I can help you with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Positive Psychology or simply providing you the safe place to process your life events through stream of consciousness. Trauma does not get to hold you hostage any more from having a life you can thrive in.

A quiet space between where you’ve been and where you’re going.
The Immersion Bridge™ is a complimentary sensory wellness experience available exclusively to active clients of Clearings Counseling Center. Designed to offer a private space to step away from the demands of the outside world, settle into a comfortable recliner, and simply pause, breathe, and be.
The room combines soft ambient lighting, nature-inspired surroundings, optional TouchPoints, and an immersive Rylaxtones sound experience featuring resonant Tibetan singing-bowl tones.
How the Sound Experience Works
Two independently positioned Rylaxtones units create true stereo binaural sound, allowing tones to interact across the listening space. Rather than seeming to come from a single speaker, the sounds may seem to move and travel throughout the room, surrounding the listener in a spacious, immersive soundscape.
The system offers eight selectable frequencies — 396, 417, 432, 528, 639, 741, 852, and 963 Hz.Each creates a different tonal experience, and the setting and volume can be selected according to the client’s individual comfort and preference. While various frequencies have traditional or manufacturer-described associations with meditation and well-being, individual responses vary and no particular therapeutic effect is promised.
There is nothing you are required to accomplish in the Immersion Bridge™. Some people simply rest. Some become quiet and reflective. Others may notice emotions or physical sensations more readily once the distractions of everyday life become still.
Whatever your experience, the Bridge simply provides the space for it.
The Immersion Bridge™ is an optional wellness amenity and is not psychotherapy, medical treatment, or the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP). Participation is voluntary and may be stopped at any time.
Available at no charge to active Clearings Counseling Center clients only. Not open to the public.
More Than a Sound Bath
Although immersive sound is an important part of the experience, the Immersion Bridge™ is not simply a sound bath. It is a deliberately created, multisensory environment in which sound, ambient light, comfortable reclining, nature-inspired surroundings, reduced outside stimulation, and optional bilateral tactile stimulation with TouchPoints work together to create a space for transition and rest.
The goal is not to produce a particular response. Rather, the Immersion Bridge™ provides an opportunity to step away from everyday sensory demands and distractions and notice what emerges when there is finally room to become still.
As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor my goal is to match you with the best of traditional and Positive Psychology methods to reduce or eliminate distress while increasing your ability to thrive. I apply both evidence-based and existential treatments for you to develop and master your best possible self. I believe that the best outcomes begin with honoring your life experiences, inherent wisdom and personal strengths. Together we will explore and heal the areas of your life that need attention. I am here to listen and to guide you through the creative process of being your own architect of your most authentic self. I work from a person-centered, relational orientation. I believe therapy is most effective when clients experience their therapist as present, engaged, and genuinely human—not distant or emotionally neutral.
My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in mutual respect. I do not maintain a flat affect, nor do I view emotional distance as a measure of professionalism. At times, I may use brief and intentional self-disclosure when it serves a clinical purpose, such as normalizing an experience or strengthening therapeutic connection. Any such disclosure is limited, purposeful, and the focus is always returned to the client.
Clients who tend to benefit most from my approach appreciate:
Clients who are seeking a highly structured, emotionally neutral, or skills-only approach may feel better supported by a different therapeutic style. I am always happy to assist with referrals when another approach is a better fit.

I look forward to speaking with you!
